Camp Description:
At Valley Forge, we build self-confidence, teach the value of teamwork, and encourage personal achievement. On our 120-acre campus, programs are offered which will challenge and excite. For children ages 14 to 17, we offer a fitness camp, an adventure camp for 8 to 13 year olds, and a band camp for 12 - 17 year olds. Leadership training, outdoor adventure, sports, and carefully-selected field trips makes our camp unique and a step ahead of other camp programs. Location: The Valley Forge Military Academy and College campus is in Wayne, Pennsylvania, just 14 miles west of Philadelphia, and a 40-minute drive from the Philadelphia International Airport as well as from 30th Street Station. Director: Major Jeff Bond, Director of Summer Camp Staff: Our Summer Camp Staff of approximately 130 caring men and women includes camp commandants, assistant commandants, counselors, teaching faculty, sports coordinators, medical staff, food service staff, and other personnel. We maintain an 8:1 camper-counselor ratio. Our counselors and other professional staff receive special training in order to enhance the experience for each camper. Philosophy: The Valley Forge Summer Camps are operated by the Valley Forge Military Academy Foundation and maintain the same high standards that have made the institution internationally known. The camps are part of the foundation's comprehensive program for providing youth with the very best in recreational and educational opportunities. Religious Life: VFMA Summer Camp Chapel Service is held every Sunday and campers are required to attend. While Christian in format, the service is nondenominational and is an essential part of the campers' character development at the Forge. Arrangements can also be made for campers of other particular faiths to attend services locally.
